Template Based Sitebuilders

We offer RV Sitebuilder to our customers as a free template based sitebuilding tool. This is an easy to use and quick way to get your site online.

Template based site builder programs are easy to use and are best for the beginners who need a basic brochure web site up as quickly as possible.

With Template based sitebuilders, you are restricted to the template format and they are not easily customizable.

The template site bilders are supported only by the company which built the programs and support for a particular issue is not as easily found as it is with the Open Source builders.

Open Source Site Builders

Open Source Site Builders are far more advanced and will allow for far more customization and features. The open source programs are more sophisticated and will require you to learn how they work but they do not require you to know HTML and there is a large amount of documentation for you to learn how they work.

If you have moderate or above skills in reading documentation and following directions then these programs will allow you to build more feature rich and customized web sites.

These programs are supported through communities of users, with tons of documentation, help centers & forum groups.

The three most popular ones include:

Wordpress: is best known as a blogging software but it can be used as a web site builder as well. It is very reliable but not as fancy as Joomla or Drupal.

Joomla: is a CMS which over the last several years has gained a significant amount of users. They have great documentation and allows for a large amount of customizations, far more than wordpress.

Drupal: is also a CMS and is also widely used. It is known for it's quality and flexibility. Drupal offers more radical customization capability. Drupal's community is already very large and growing.

Because OpenSource depends on the hundreds of volunteers to write many of the modules, it is a good idea to determine which version has the tools needed for your project. Going with the most current Version, may have it's restrictions. Use their community to help you if needed.
